Living expenses havent really risen above wages, what people see as needs and wants has changed. What used to be a treat at the corner shop is now an everyday %26quot;essential%26quot; %26quot;expensive%26quot; item and not to mention fuel for hyperactivity. People were happy to have the little old house with the little mortgage and grow from there, but not now, it seems you are nothing if you dont start out with the best house and car and your kids are nothing with the latest gadget. Where did parenting get caught up in commercialism? When did mothers go from being fulfilled at giving birth and watching her child grow and flourish in her arms, to being so fulfilled by every dollar they spend on %26quot;stuff%26quot;?How can a working mother be a %26quot;supermom%26quot;? Aren't their kids being raised by someone else?Or maybe as a single mother you would have to work.. you could work while your children are at school like my mom, who came home on her break to get us off to school and was home when we were or shortly after. My aunt lived right by us. One of them always made us dinner, we had chores and a clean house.
