Please could you help me with these energy physics problems?

Please could you show me how to figure out these problems? Thanks in advance and have a great day.

11.) It is said that Galileo dropped objects off the Leaning Tower of Pisa to determine whether heavy or light objects fall faster. If Galileo had dropped a 5.0 kg cannon ball to the ground from a height of 12 m, what would have been a change in PE of the cannon ball?

12.) The 2000 Belmont Stakes winner, Commendable, ran the horse race at an average speed of 15.98 m/s. If Commendable and jockey Pat Day had a combined mass of 550.0 kg, what was their KE as they crossed the line?

13.) Brittany is changing the tire of her car on a steep hill 20.0 m high. She trips and drops the 10.0-kg spare tire, which rolls down the hill with an intial speed of 2.00 m/s. What is the speed of the tire at the top of hte next hill, which is 5.00 m high? (Ignore the effects of rotaion KE and friction.)

14.) A Mexican jumping bean jumps with the aid of a small worm that lives inside the bean. a.) If a bean of mass 2.0 g jumps 1.0 cm from your hand into the air, how much potential energy has it gained in reaching its highest point. b.) What is the speed as the bean lands back in the palm of your hand?

15.) A 500.-kg horse is standing at the top of a muddy hill on a rainy day. The hill is 100.0 m long with a vertical drop of 30.0 m. The pig slips and begins to slide down the hill. What is the pig's speed a the bottom of the hill? Use the law of conservation of energy.

16.) While on the moon, the Apollo astronauts enjoyed the effects of a gravity much smaller than that on Earth. If Neil Armstrong jumped up on the moon with an intitial speed of 1.51 m/s to a height of 0.700 m, what amount of gravitational acceleration did he experience? Please could you help me with these energy physics problems?________________________________________?br>
11) If Galileo had dropped a 5.0 kg cannon ball to the ground from a height of 12 m, the change in PE of the cannon ball would have been product of mass(m),acceleration(g)and height(h)

The change in PE =mgh=5*9.8*12=588 J

12.) The 2000 Belmont Stakes winner, Commendable, ran the horse race at an average speed = v = 15.98 m/s.

Commendable and jockey Pat Day had a combined mass =M= 550.0 kg,

Their KE as they crossed the line=(1/2)Mv^2

Their KE as they crossed the line=0.5*550*(15.98)^2

Their KE as they crossed the line is 70224.11 J

______________________________________?br>
13)Brittany is changing the tire of her car on a steep hill of height =H= 20.0 m

She trips and drops the spare tire of mass = m = 10.0 kg,

The tire rolls down the hill with an intial speed = u = 2.00 m/s.

The height of top of the next hill = h = 5.00 m

Initial total mechanical energy =PE+KE=mgH+(1/2)mu^2

Initial total mechanical energy =mgH+(1/2)mu^2

Suppose the final speed at the top of second hill is v

Final total mechanical energy =PE+KE=mgh+(1/2)mv^2

As mechanical energy is conserved,

Final total mechanical energy =Initial total mechanical energy

mgh+(1/2)mv^2=mgH+(1/2)mu^2

v = sq rt [u^2+2g(H-h)]

v = sq rt [4+2*9.8(20-5)]

v = sq rt 298

v =17.2627 m/s

The speed of the tire at the top of the next hill is 17.2627 m/s

______________________________________?br>
14.) A Mexican jumping bean jumps with the aid of a small worm that lives inside the bean.

a.)The mass of bean = m = 2.0 g

Height up to which the been jumps = h = 1.0 cm from hand

Potential energy gained in reaching its highest point= mgh=1.96*10^-4 J or 1960 erg

b.) The speed as the bean lands back in the palm of your hand =v=sq rt2gh =sqrt 0.196 =0.4427 m/s or 44.27 cm/s

15.) A 500.-kg horse is standing at the top of a muddy hill on a rainy day. The hill is 100.0 m long with a vertical drop of 30.0 m. The pig slips and begins to slide down the hill.

The pig's speed a the bottom of the hill = sq rt 2gh = sq rt 2*9.8*30 =sq rt 588 =24.249 m/s

16.) While on the moon, the Apollo astronauts Neil Armstrong jumped up with an intitial speed 'u'of 1.51 m/s to a height 'h' of 0.700 m,

The gravitational acceleration he experienced = u^2/2h = 2.2801 /(2*0.7) = 1.629 m/s^2

EDIT

1.) A train is accelerating at a rate = a = 2.0 km/hr/s.

Acceleration

Initial velocity = u = 20 km/hr,

Velocity after 30 seconds = v = u + at

Velocity after 30 seconds = v = 20 km/hr + 2 (km/hr/s)*30s =

Velocity after 30 seconds = v = 20 km/hr + 60 km/hr = 80 km/ hr

Velocity after 30 seconds = v = 80 km/hr=22.22 m/s

_______________________________-

2.) A runner achieves a velocity of 11.1 m/s 9 s after he begins.

His acceleration = a =11.1/9=1.233 m/s^2

Distance he covered = s = (1/2)at^2=49.95 m

  • Is this a good, simple explanation why Heathcare costs so much?

Suppose you could get insurance to fix your car (mechanical repairs, not fender-bender work).

And suppose your boss paid the premium for this insurance, not you.

How long would it take for an oil change to skyrocket in price from 20 bucks to 90 bucks?

How long would it take for a new clutch job to rocket from 700 dollars to 1600 dollars. Not only that, but you'd replace your clutch 4 or 5 times whether it really needed it or not.

Inflation would stack on top of itself like this:

    Price for labor would increase.

    Price for parts would increase.

    More %26quot;procedures%26quot; per mile because it's %26quot;free%26quot;

No incentive to buy cheaper, remanufactured (generic) parts.

No incentive to wait until next year to get that tuneup that you really don't need

No incentive to rotate your tires to save the treads

No incentive to drive your car carefully - all the repairs are %26quot;free%26quot;Is this a good, simple explanation why Heathcare costs so much? You are on the right track with one of the reasons health care costs so much.

It's a little more complicated then that. Yes having coverage that allowed people to go to the doctor for very little out of their pocket caused them to take advantage. But that alone did not do it. You also have doctors that are paying exorbitant liability insurance premiums because of major lawsuits. Because the doctor pays more he charges more. In addition to that because he is so afraid of making the wrong diagnosis (and getting sued) he orders a million tests that are not necessary. This of course costs more money.

The there is the inefficiency of the medical system. If you go to 3 different doctors for 3 different things you could end up getting the same tests 3 different times. If all medical information was available in a database doctors could see your complete medical history with a click of a button and run only necessary tests. That would save millions of dollars.

Then you've got the point you are trying to make. People do not make educated decisions about their treatment because they do not have a financial stake in the game. Why should I care how many tests my doctor orders? It doesn't cost me anything. Why should I exercise and watch what I eat? There are pills that will keep my heart going...

Hope that is helpful. Is this a good, simple explanation why Heathcare costs so much?eh, not really. Figure this one out who is to blame(texas car accident)?

I was driving on the lane next to the exit ramp lane. I checked if any one was in the exit ramp lane and no one was in it only a car behind me. so I turn my signal light on and start to turn and when I am about more than half the lane in both my mother and my brother yell %26quot;watch out%26quot; and out of the corner of my eye I see a car speeding pass me and he managed to clip me on my right front panel just infront of the tire left rear side. When we parked our cars we met each other and he said %26quot; I am sorry bro I saw you signal but I thought I could make it%26quot; but then when the cops came he changed his story. He says that he had turned to the exit ramp and passed me then I turned then hit him. Think about this if he was in back of me, how in the world was he able the pass me with out speeding because the speed limit of the main lane is 60mph and the exit ramps is 50mph. I was going about 60mph before turning to the exit ramp so if he says he had passed me how can he explain appearing in front of me with out speeding remember he was in back of me and if he turned to the exit ramp he had to have started to reduce his speed. Still the cops gave me a ticket for an unsafe lane change and he gave the other driver a ticket for not having a license and it was not suspended or expired nor revoked he just had never taken the test before. I want to add for your better understandment that my car was insured but I was not covered by it. and he also did not have insurance. I also understand how it appeard to the police the did not see the crash so when they arrived all they saw was where the damage was and said that I was at fault. given what I just explained do I have a reasonable case to fight? The other driver either saw my signal but thought he could make it or was not paying attention and managed to get away with it becuase had spead up and I manage to hit him from the rear side????

also he said that he had passed me but that is not true because I would have heard and seen him passing and this is why... he had one of those annoying mufflers that people put on fast Streetcars sort of like %26quot;the fast and the furious%26quot; so I would have heard him because they attract your attention and plus my car does not have A/C so I had the windows down so I would have heard him even better also my mother and my brother would have seen him too...he was behind me when I was turning and I was already on the exit ramp when we crashed.

    .

Plus the metal from my bumper where we crashed has the metal tearing towards the front of my car not dented inward, this proves that he passed me and when he hit my right panel his car riped my bumpers metal outward toward the front so if he says that i hit him, the metal would have been dented inward instead of outward right?

ALSo can an officer give me that unsafe lane change ticket even though he did not witness the supposed violation???????????Figure this one out who is to blame(texas car accident)? If you are telling us the situation truthfully, then the passengers in your car should go to court with you to testify in your behalf. You signaled. The other driver passed on the right which is illegal regardless of whether you signaled on not.

The damage to your car does not prove the he was passing you. It proves that he was going faster than you. This damage could happen if the other drives was speeding up to enter the highway from the ramp. If he admits in court the he was exiting the highway, THEN the damage shows that he was passing illegally.Figure this one out who is to blame(texas car accident)?Yes, definately take it to court %26amp; fight it %26amp; bring your witnesses with you. Make sure you are very detailed %26amp; have a diagram as to what happened mapped out on poster board.

Sounds like you have a great chance of beating the ticket. I live in IL, but got a tix in KS because a cop lied %26amp; said I ran a red light. I will speed, but running a red light is something I don't do. I told him I didn't %26amp; if i did, why didnt he give the other car a ticket, that was a few inches ahead of me. He slipped up %26amp; said we made it through just in time. So, I call him on that %26amp; said, well if I made it through, why am I getting a ticket? He got flustered %26amp; said if I wanted to discuss it anymore, then take it to court. I did, with one of my witnesses. They didn't totally dismiss the ticket, but changed it to a non moving violation.

And they wonder why they're not liked by the public!

Who is to blame in texas car accident?

I was driving on the lane next to the exit ramp lane. he was also exiting the highway and yes he did admit(TO the Cops) that he was in back of me and turned towards the exit ramp but it had to be done illegaly though right.

CAN I win this in court?

    Civil court that is....

he wasn't already in the lane as I started to turned. he had stayed in the main lane while I was turning and I stopped chenking for cars because I was in the lane already when he came from behind me and passed me and managed to hit me.

the reason my mother and brother yelled watch out was because they are the ones that heard him going pass me not because he was next to me and I was going to hit him.

The state of texas has a proportional fault claim that says even IF I turned to him he was the one that caused the crash since he was not giong at a safe speed so if he was going the speed limit the crash would have never happened. making him 51%or more at fault right?Who is to blame in texas car accident?I'd say you could fight it in Court. TAKE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE. You should have already but you better do it now. You will need pictures of the damage to your car in Court. Also don't get it fixed if you don't have to before going to Court. That way you can show the pictures are accurate. From how you describe it HE hit YOU and the damage shows it. Oh and the Judge will be leaning more toward you since he was driving without EVER getting a license. He has never proven he knows how to drive, which looks worse then an irresponsible driver(one who lost their license) who proved they could drive. Make sure you are very respectful of the Judge in a Civil Court though.Who is to blame in texas car accident? Not sure, but considering that he got in the lane and was there when you hit him, you might be at fault here.Who is to blame in texas car accident?my friend this is what they make courts and judges for//take this inj writng to the court and dispute the ticket//tell the judge what happened//the pd has to testify ask him the questions that he testifys too that you ran into him rather than he squeeze in if you are as articulate as you are now you can beat this and win//ergo unlicensed driver//does he know the rules??

to steve... yes he was also exiting the highway and yes he did admit(TO the Cops) that he was in back of me and turned towards the exit ramp but it had to be done illegaly though right.

CAN I win this in court?Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame?Who is Steve? Something tells me you posted this before.

I can't believe I read the whole thing. But, yes, the admissions in your story are sufficient to establish you as an at-fault driver. You did not have the right of way. The other driver did not %26quot;come out of nowhere.%26quot; You were responsible for seeing him, and not merging unless you could do so safely.

    This is not to say he does not bear responsibility for speeding or whatever, but no, you can't %26quot;win this in court.%26quot;

Did Steve agree?Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame?Sergio is right. You can't win. It was your responsibility to yield. The fact that you did not see the person you had to yield to does not give you a claim.

Indeed, as you freely admit, everyone else in YOUR CAR saw the car you slammed into.Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame? You turned into him. Regardless of his speed he was in the lane you were attempting to access. Your fault.Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame?I don't know about Texas but, where I live it is illegal to pass someone on the right unless they are stopped to make a left hand turn. Hope this Helps.Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame?I am from Texas and this is called a Mexican standoff the officer in charge was just doing his job, he did not have enough information to make that call, and it will have to be resolved in court, build your case with your witnesses and if you win the ticket and charges will all be dropped and the other driver will pay for your damages.Figure this Texas car accident who is to blame?dont listen to those idiots who say you cant win this. you can. anyone who goes to court with a plan, witnesses, and honesty can win. just be prepared with diagrams and eyewitness testimony.

LSU fans smell just like corn dogs. Yes, it is often said, but so, so true.?

LSU fans do smell like corn dogs.

I would never tell them that to their face though. This is something better said at internet distances. Even now, I am afraid.

I am afraid that they%26#039;ll know I said it. I%26#039;ll walk past an LSU fan someday, and he%26#039;ll see that look in my eye that gives it away. That look that says, %26quot;gee, what is that smell? Is it corn dogs?%26quot; The next thing you know, I%26#039;ll have flat tires on my car.

If you only learn one thing from me today, remember not to tell LSU fans how they smell - you know, like corn dogs.

LSU fans seem, somehow, sensitive to that whole corn dog issue.

    I think this may be why a lot of fans get beaten up by LSU fans. If you attend a game in Baton Rouge, try to avoid telling them that they smell like corn dogs. Say something else instead. Like, %26quot;Wow, LSU sure does have a great team this year. This is going to be a great SEC game.%26quot;

    It%26#039;s hard. I know. It%26#039;s like when you%26#039;re having sex and you try to think about baseball. That corn dog smell is just so overwhelming. It makes it hard for you to think about football or baseball or whatever else. Your brain wanders into corn dog topics like: %26quot;Gee, I wonder if I took a bite of your finger, if you would taste just like a corn dog?%26quot;; or %26quot;Is this a real person or is it a giant corn dog trying to make me think it is a real person?%26quot; or %26quot;What did that giant corn dog just say?%26quot; or %26quot;Excuse me, Mister, why is it that you smell just exactly like corn dogs smell?%26quot; or, of course, after a silencer: %26quot;Madam, did you just let the corn dogs out?%26quot;

Heck, after what I%26#039;ve heard about LSU fans, I think it may be better not to smell them at all. Okay, not all of them. Some of them are nice. Sure. Smell the nice ones. That%26#039;s okay.

You know what else is a bad thing to do? Holding your nose around them. They are real sensitive to that, too. Try holding your breath. But don%26#039;t be obvious about it. Somehow they know you%26#039;re trying not to breathe in the corn dog smell. And that offends them. They%26#039;ll likely punch you for that if they catch on to what you%26#039;re doing.

If you do breathe it in long enough, though, it%26#039;ll permeate your whole body, and then you%26#039;ll smell like a corn dog just like they do. But don%26#039;t say, %26quot;Dang, now I smell like a corn dog.%26quot; They take offense to that. And they will throw things. But not corn dogs. Hard stuff. Stuff that leaves bruises and makes you bleed. Then you may have to get stitches or something. Just don%26#039;t say it. If you do start smelling like a corn dog, just shut up about it. Okay?

I think kids are acutely aware of corn dog smells too. Counsel your kids on how to behave around LSU fans. If LSU fans are driving around town, do not let your kids stick their heads out of your car window and sniff the air. No. Keep your windows rolled up. An odd change in their expression - indicating they smell corn dogs - might get a wrench or pipe or some other object tossed at your windshield. So, that%26#039;s dangerous. Let your kids stick their heads out of the car windows as you drive - on some other weekend.

I know you are just as puzzled as I am about some of this corn dog stuff. What puzzles me most is that I%26#039;ve never actually seen any of these LSU fans with a corn dog in their hand. Okay, maybe there%26#039;s no mystery there - maybe they already ate the corn dogs. Who knows? Maybe there%26#039;s a corn dog factory in Baton Rouge and they all work there. Maybe, there%26#039;s a corn dog lotion that they wear, or a French perfume. Maybe their city council puts corn dog juice in the water supply - kind of like fluoride. The politics there are probably weird. The big political issue during the city election is whether they should add more ketchup or more mustard to the water. Don%26#039;t comment on it though. It%26#039;s not politically correct over there. It%26#039;s like a malnutrition issue or something. It%26#039;s like the corn dogs are probably added to the water to prevent starvation or something.

I know when you go to Baton Rouge, you%26#039;re thinking: %26quot;Ahhhh. Here I am in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I%26#039;ll bet the people here smell just like boiled crawfish or shrimp etoufe%26#039; or some fancy Cajun food.%26quot; But just stop thinking that. That%26#039;s just a myth. They smell just like corn dogs.

    In fact, please listen to my advice. Leave them alone about the corn dog odor. And don%26#039;t try masking the odor with something stronger. They%26#039;ll curse at you. They%26#039;ll say something like: %26quot;WTF, how dare you smoke a cigar in my home.%26quot; or %26quot;WTF!! Are you too good for the smell of corn dogs?%26quot; and they%26#039;ll cuss out your kids too: %26quot;WTF!!! Little Mister fancy pants over here acts like he doesn%26#039;t want to smell like corn dogs.%26quot;

Cajuns are not like us. Don%26#039;t you see that, yet? They are really sensitive about being sniffed and about their corn dog aroma. They know they smell like corn dogs and it is no laughing matter to them at all. I know. I know. We sniff the bammers and the UGA dawgs and the Ole messes, and we keep a straight face with each of them, but don%26#039;t press your luck with the Cajun tiger fans. Don%26#039;t refer to Death Valley as corn dog valley either. I mean that%26#039;s just wrong. Even if you%26#039;ve been drinking, they%26#039;ll beat you up and curse out your kids.

Along these lines, be extra careful when you laugh in their direction - even if you%26#039;re laughing about something else. Like baseball or football, or sex or whatever. If you can%26#039;t control yourself and you must laugh though, do not snort. The snorting makes them think that you smell their corn dog body odor from a distance or that you%26#039;re choking on it or something. They%26#039;ll likely burn your van for that. We lost a campus building over just one snort.

So, just remember. You can love one another without sniffing each other. You can enjoy the clash of a couple of good football teams. You can enjoy the thrill of the rivalry. But after the game, please heed my words. Please just move along. No sniffing the opposing fans this Saturday. Okay? Get your corn dog jollies at home.LSU fans smell just like corn dogs. • I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?

I had the oil changed, the brakes changed, tires rotated back in September 06 at the dealer, free of charge. I know i have to service my car pretty soon and my question is to know if i am required to have it done at the dealer or can i have it done anywhere else ( Midas, Meineke or Jiffy lube). Does it matters where you have your car serviced?

My second question is to know how much it cost in average?I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?You have a couple of choices. First, check what brand of oil they each use and research the brands. A synthetic like Mobil 1 is a good choice. Second, look for coupons to reduce the cost and keep your eyes open for specials that the dealership might offer. It is hard to find anything below 20 bucks. Happy Hunting!I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?Until the warranty expires, I would have the dealer do the recommended Toyota servicing such as oil changes, coolant changes, transmission flushes etc to make sure I kept the warranty in effect, especially the power train warranty which may last 5 years or 60,000 miles. You have to assume that you could have a major engine or transmission problem develop and you'll be glad that the dealer shows all your required maintenance having been done if you need warranty work from them. Is it really worth trying to save $5 on a discount oil change when you can get the original equipment

Toyota oil filter installed at the dealer? Who knows your car better, the Toyota dealer or the quick lube place?I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?You do not have to have the service performed at the Toyota dealership, but you had better know exactly what work is required by your warrantee ... and when ... and you had better be very thorough at keeping records of all maintenance performed. The dealership usually has a poster of the service required at specific mileage or date milestones in their service dept if you need more detail.

The secret is trying to find a cheap, TRUSTWORTHY mechanic. There is no use saving a dime on maintenance if it costs you a dollar in repairs later.

Unless you do 80% of your driving on the highway during off hours you should also use the maintenance schedule for hard use. Especially for oil and filter changes.I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?No, you don't have to have the car serviced at a dealer, as long as the other repair shops use the correct parts and fluids. You have to save all receipts, even for parts and fluids if you work on the car yourself, so that you can prove proper maintenance if a warranty issue arises. However, you will be on better terms with Toyota if you had their dealer perform most of the service.

An oil change should cost $18 (basic) to $30 (including checking/topping off other fluids and performing a general inspection). At 30,000, the radiator should be flushed and filled, transmission fluid replaced, air filter replaced, fuel filter replaced, brake fluid replaced, and spark plugs replaced. You should also get an oil change every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I wouldn't get a %26quot;30,000 mile service.%26quot; Instead, I would order whatever is specified in the maintenance schedule included in the maintenance manual. I do most of the work myself, so I am not too familiar with repair shops and costs. The radiator drain and fill should cost $50-$75. Spark plug replacement should cost $40-$60. Brake fluid replacement should cost $30-$80. Air filter should cost $10 - $22. Transmission fluid replacement should cost $50-$120. I would have the dealer replace the transmission fluid because Toyota uses a special transmission fluid in its cars. Other shops are more likely to use the wrong fluid. If your manual specifies Type T-IV fluid, I would take it to the dealer. The dealer might say it doesn't need replacement. I would still replace it every 30,000 miles. A drain and fill is adequate. A full flush isn't required, in my opinion, but is better. The difference in prices reflect the different brands/quality of parts used and different labor rates. Independent repair shops have lower prices than the dealers' service departments. Genuine Toyota parts are relatively expensive, but high quality. Some dealers %26quot;overcharge%26quot; for some parts, except to some reluctant people who ask for a better price. Evil. Dealers also have the highest labor rates.

Other maintenance/replacement issues: tires, brakes, wiper blades, windshield washer fluid, battery, light bulbs (headlights, tail lights, turn signal lights, etc.), lubricating hinges, and car washes.

I would also stay away from Jiffy Lube.I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 26000 miles on it.?you can have your car serviced anywhere. toyota does not say anywhere in the service manual that you must have it serviced at toyota or the warranty will be null/void. i wouldnt recommend jiffy lube though...they're yuck.

every dealership cost differently with oil changes. in the east coast they're around 30 bucks now.

Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?

Well me, I drive slower now... I don't speed 5mph past the limit anymore. And when I am coming to a light and it turns red.. i stop accelerating and let my car coast until the light goes green... and sometimes i don't even have to stop at all. I am working on getting my tire pressure straight, too.

I've also noticed people walking to work, especially if its close by! And my friend rides his bike to the gym instead of driving. And a few of his friends ride bicycles to class. Also, i buy gas every 5-7 days now!!

Soo... what have you done??Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?Wow, do I wish I did not have to change. Change is tough, but common sense; slower acceleration, slower speed, give yourself more time to get places( so you don't get the fast urge). Spend your money first time ,to get all the gas savings things done on your car( this I consider an investment, and it will last for sometime. Good luck Yes also drive lessHave you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?$1.45 Wow, don't we wish . Thanks ,keep using the common sense it seems to work. Have a good summer.

Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?Not yet, and it's unlikely that it will. I drive a compact car that gets great mileage- a Toyota Echo. I live with 2.25 miles of my office......so I get gas every 2 weeks, unless I go to my parent's, which is 500 miles round trip, and I can do that on a tank of gas (30.00 ish). Since I drive so little in the first place- the car is a 2000 and barely has 50K miles, I can't cut back much, and can't walk to work- roads w/o sidewalks.Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?Luckily, I've got a compact car and it's got a manual transmission. I drive often and I used to get gas every Saturdays but since the prices have gotten higher, I've been getting gas every other Saturday :) When I need to get groceries or run errands, I try to set a date for it and get everything done at once. I also make a thorough %26quot;trip itinerary%26quot; so that I don't have to drive back and forth to one place. It has helped so much and I take back roads instead of the freeways when I need to get to certain places. I've noticed a big difference. What's great about my car is that I can go 350-370 miles (city) with a full tank of gas and about 408 on the freeway. And since it's a stick, I've been cautious with my RPMs and usually sticking close at or under 3000 RPMs. Thank God for smaller cars because I only spend about $70-80 on gas a month now!

P.S. - When you're accelerating, don't slam the gas too fast. Gradually increase your speed but not to the point where you go from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds (if possible). LOL...Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?I sold my SUV. I was upside down cause no one would pay what it was worth. It didn't matter, the price of being upside down vs. gas to fill up over a year was less.

I bought a small car that gets 30-38MPG.

Gas where I live starts at $4.00 a gallon and I have seen has high as $4.38 (Chicago)Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?Yea I have changed mine. I never go anywhere. I literally stay home unless my kids are sick and need a doctor or I go shopping for groceries. Thanks to the warm weather we walk and play outside alotHave you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?well, for starters we traded in our mnivan for a smaller car(our 3 kids in booster seats love that). started driving slower, about 55mph-60mph. only drive when we have too. which means no visits to see family or any excursions for family time. work, church and the grocery store. that's it. don't like it but, until my husband starts making enough to keep up w/ rising costs, there's really not much else we can do.Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?As a person with a walking disability, I am dependent on my car for everything. Plus, nothing is with-in walking distance because I live in a small town that is a half hour away from any small city.

So, I have stopped visiting friends and traveling. I go to work and go home. I haven't been clubbing in so long! I just can't afford it. Now I'm concerned on how I'm going to be able to afford to pay for gas just to get to work...

My husband and I can't even afford to go camping this year for our anniversary and THAT SUCKS!Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?I drove 200 miles last Friday and a further 200 last Monday and kept my car under 70 MPH (in fact nearer 60 mph and got over 60 mpg of petrol

If I take the car up to 70 mph I get about 40 mpg

Honda Jazz 1200ccHave you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?I make all my girlfriends drive to MY house once in a while now.Have you changed your driving habits due to high gas prices?? And How?I haven't had to change anything yet. My car gets 30MPH unless I have the air on than its around 25MPG. A fill is now $32 - $35......so I am in better shape than others.

As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year?

Could I deduct my car payment? Can I deduct any services to my car, such as oil changes or new tires? I know I can definitely deduct the gas/mileage I use while on the job. Do I need to keep track of how many miles I drive each day for my job? Also, should I keep my receipts for gas? Can I deduct the food I buy while on the job? Please, if any of you are aware of even the smallest things that I should be keeping receipts for, please let me know. I am 21 years old, unmarried, and without children. I am working as an independent contractor, just started a few days ago. I will make about $12500 for the next 6 months remaining in 2006. How much should I set aside to pay taxes next year? I will be doing a lot of driving for the job, so do the deductions that come along with driving for the job make a huge difference? I am worried that I will be stuck with a rather large payment next year and just want to be adequately prepared. Thanks in advance for your help.As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year? Here's a start...

YES... keep track of every mile and wheter it was personal or business. Basically, you can deduct the percentage that is business for all of the maintenance things. Yes keep receipts.

I'm guessing you are single, which means there is a standard deduction of $5000 available. You probably will use the standard rather than the itemized deductions I described above. Do you go to school? Have kids? These create more deductions.

    For example: You earn $12500

    Subtract $5000 standard deduction

Subtract $3200 personal deduction (everyone gets one)

Approx. Taxable Income: $4300 (the amount you would pay taxes on)

So... 10% tax bracket... you would be liable for $430 for taxes.

Note: I am not a CPA, contact your tax professional! Good luck.As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year?Always save your receipts for deductions %26amp; proof of Business activities, review IRS schedule C-EZ %26amp; C. The catergories will give you some idea where your expenses fall into. Kepp track of vehicle mileage %26amp; expenses, use a good wriiten log %26amp; dates of service.

I'm conservative, I would save 20% (expenses permitting) for taxes. (10% minimum). If you can get your employer to withold for federal, state %26amp; local taxes if needed, do it. I have friends I give this info to, %26amp; when they don't do it, they get the big tax bill!! (especially on higher incomes) Just protect yourself %26amp; in the long run you shouldn't have problems. Get last years tax software (any of the big names) %26amp; compute your own last year taxes %26amp; then do some what if's. Business income (schedule C or C-Ez) Mileage, expenses etc. good Luck.As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year?Check IRS publications. Generally, any ordinary and reasonable expense required to produce income in a business intended for profit. Includes supplies, transportation, small equipment, etc.As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year?Start by looking at Publication 334 which you can get off of the IRS website. As an independent contractor, what can I use as a deduction come taxes next year? The rules for deducting your car can be complicated. First you must decide whether you will use the standard mileage rate or the actual expense method. I would suggest the mileage rate since it is less burdensome for recordkeeping. The rate is 48.5 cents a mile for 9/1/05-12/31/05 and 40.5 for 1/1/05-8/31/05. Keep a log of you business use of the car. If you are commuting to an office (and do not maintain a home office) then none of the car expenses are deductible. If you use actual method, you still must keep a mileage log and keep ALL receipts regarding your car (gas, repairs, insurance etc). You will deduct the % of business use to total use. If your auto qualifies as a business asset (not %26quot;commuting%26quot;) then the interest portion of your car payment is deductible, not the principal.

The food you buy is not deductible unless you are on out-of-town travel and then only at 50%. Other expenses would be supplies (office and computer), cell phone (business use only), postage, licenses (business lic is req'd in most areas), professional fees, bank fees (set up a separate checking account used only for business - - but don't tell the bank its for business since usually higher fees and IRS doesn't care how set up), hotel/airfare/tips.

As for receipts, I tell my clients that if you are in doubt of whether to keep one, then keep it...better safe than sorry.

    The Love Song of %26quot;Marry%26quot;!!!!!!!!!!!

    I am here now, look!

    I am still so young,

    To lament, to cry

    To die!!

    Don檛 let me say

    Don檛 change this May

Into the month of my birthday

    It's winter ,snow and rain

    Makes love go in vain

    And every cup of coffee

Will kill you; make you wish you were never

    Been here

    In a life that kills

    And revives

    Just to rekill!!!

    I know you've lost

    Your voice and was left

Without a heart, without a blood

    Only some mud

    And a few coal

    In your chest

Turns you on like a tool

    But believe me the mill

Never stops for one lost his love

    For a silly dove

Gone and lost in a grey sky

    Even if it dies

No one will care, no one will tell.

    Oh, oh, yes I admit

    But dear I am sorry

For not being able to be sorry

To give him my heart, my eyes, my whole life.

And if he asked me to cut my arm,

    I would cut the two

    And kiss the knife

I'll put it under my pillow

And his steps I will follow

Because he's my spirit, he is a part of me,

No, no . . . he is the whole of me

No, no . . . he is more than me

    I am the part

    I am the smallest part

    I am? ? . . .I wish I can say I am his heart!

I am a drop of blood

I am the pain if he was cut

I am the sorrow of his heart

    I am. . .

I am all what is out

    I never been inside

    I am the tear

    I am the fear

I am all what he wishes to leave

I am all what he denies

I am the stone on which he steps to rise

I am nothing but a tool

    I am his play's fool

    Who goes out with %26quot;nothing%26quot;

I am the only who lose

    I am the no-petal-rose

    I am the dark star

I am the tire of his car

I am the carbon in his pencil

I am the full of dust book over his shelf

I am the black side of his self

    I am all but nothing

    I am the last choice

    I am the husky voice

    I am . . . what am I?

    Tell me dear

    Before I die?

What do you want me to say

    After all what you said

What do you want me to read

    After all what you read

Do you want me to cry

    For you I would try

    And if I couldn檛

    If I didn檛

    Find a tear

    Just remember

I am your friend and you will find

    Some one cares

    Some one who dares

    Someone who wouldn't

    Exchange you with ten

Like her you are jealous from

And your day will soon come.

    I wish that my friend

I wish I can stop being rend

I wish I can stop breathing his cigarette smoke

    I wish I can be %26quot;me%26quot; again

    I wish I can return

I wish I can find something to forget

I wish I can not regret

I wish I can stop the tear

I wish I can kill the fear

    I wish I can hear

    Any sound without remembering him!

That one who does not me know

That one who doesn檛 me saw

That one who walks like a king

Between all the kings he is the only king

Between the men he is the only man

Between the hearts he is the only heart

Between the hopes he is the only wish. . .

    I wish. . .

    I wish to die

I wish I would be his princess

    But how

    What prevents me?

    I cannot even try

    My heart is dry

I know that he is busy

Between the books he will me burry

I know that he is the bachelor man

    Even when he marry

He will not marry me, or any other woman

He will marry a book, a paper, a pencil, a heart which is not mine

    Absolutely it won't be mine!!!!

So? Why am I still thinking about him?

Why am I still writing his name

Why with each drop of rain

I wish that he would remember me, think about me , write my name?

How can I a stop that?

    How can I stop that??

I bet you could get a high rating for it on there! Please read this and tell me your true openion, good, a little long though

Does he actually like me or is he just playing?

Theres this guy who is quite a bit older than me and we get on very well but I'm not sure how much of this is just him enjoying a younger girl liking him/getting a younger girl to like him.

If I'm doing something and I look up he will be looking at me and then he smiles and then holds my gaze or looks away. Or if he says something to someone else which is funny he looks at me as if to see that I'm listening and then he looks away. I will make a noise to show I found it funny and then he wil look at me and smile and hold my gaze.

Or if he's on the phone to a friend he will look at me as if to check that I'm listening and then smile at me if I look at him...and then he like kinda hesitates as if he's forgotten what he was saying...or he will like talk to me as he's talking to his friend, like his friend was talking about changing car wheels and he said aha girls can't change tyres and then looked at me and smiled and I was like ahem, yes they can..and then he was like to his friend oh sorry, apparently they can! and then he like carries on talking to me while on the phone to his friend.

We have never talked about other girls/guys..but we have literally talked about everything else!

He did something a but stupid and I was like aha you muppet, and he was like ah that's rude (joking) your going to get it from me today..and then laughed... And he will compliment me on things I do..and we have like inside jokes and stuff like that..

but I'm not sure if its just because I'm younger that he acts like this. I'm naturally quite flirty and a laughy type of person and confident so I'm not sure if he just says the things beccause he knows I can take a joke...but then like when he says somethings he goes really serious... :s

help!Does he actually like me or is he just playing?Interesting. I would like to know your age and his to give an accurate and fair answer. Ages would make a world of difference.Does he actually like me or is he just playing?Wait how old are YOU exactly...like high school student / college or what..

cuz if its a 10year diff he might just think of u as a lil sis...

considering if he was in uni or college and u were in hs..

maybe he has feelings fo ryou...but he's uncomfortable b/c of hte age diff...but then again..if that was the case he might try to pull away from you cuz he'd be uncomfortable and unsure of his feelings...but i think he treats u just as friend/lil sis

  • For the car nuts out there: hear me out...?

I used to be the kind of guy that would take his car to get the oil changed, paid to have someone hook up a car stereo, etc. Pretty much helpless. After realizing I didn't want to be that kind of guy anymore, I started doing research, and got my hands some experience. Starting small with changing oil, my tires and other things of less notable mention.

What a really want to do is build my own car. Not just any car, but MY car. To drive down the highway at 150 mph, knowing it is this fast because of your hands and time. Knowing that every piece of this car works in perfect unison because of your dedication.

It is almost like the car is yourself, changed from a heap of junk into a machine that tears off highway concrete behind the wheels. That is what I want to do. The car I would like to transform would be a 1997 Toyota Supra.

I have a 2JZGTE engine with 30,000 miles on it that I got from Japan. However, I do not have the body. I was looking for salvaged Supras and I came across a site known as AutoSource.biz.

They have some Supras that are in pretty good condition, considering they are salvaged. The frames aren't bent, and that is what I need: a good frame to start. I have been told by some of my friends that I have no idea what I am getting myself into, which I don't. However, if I don't get into it, I will never know what it was I could have gotten into.

To undergo despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience. They told me that if I am serious enough, they would help me build it. One has been raised around cars his whole life. He has a degree in auto mechanics. The other is very life experienced in general. So, I feel that this will be an awesome project. No, I am not loaded with cash, but I do understand how long this project could endure.

So, is AutoSource.biz a good site to look? What are some other good sites for salvaged Supras? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. For the car nuts out there: hear me out...?Supra?

LSU fans smell just like corn dogs. Yes, it is often said, but so, so true. Who agrees with me?

LSU fans smell just like corn dogs.

Yes, it is often said, but so, so true.

LSU fans do smell like corn dogs.

I would never tell them that to their face though. This is something

better said at internet distances. Even now, I am afraid.

I am afraid that they%26#039;ll know I said it. I%26#039;ll walk past an LSU fan

someday, and he%26#039;ll see that look in my eye that gives it away.

    That look that says, %26quot;gee, what is that smell? Is it corn dogs?%26quot;

The next thing you know, I%26#039;ll have flat tires on my car.

If you only learn one thing from me today, remember not to tell LSU

fans how they smell - you know, like corn dogs.

LSU fans seem, somehow, sensitive to that whole corn dog issue.

I think this may be why a lot of fans get beaten up by LSU fans. If you

attend a game in Baton Rouge, try to avoid telling them that they smell

like corn dogs. Say something else instead. Like, %26quot;Wow, LSU sure does

    have a great team this year. This is going to be a great SEC game.%26quot;

It%26#039;s hard. I know. It%26#039;s like when you%26#039;re having sex and you try to

think about baseball. That corn dog smell is just so overwhelming.

It makes it hard for you to think about football or baseball or

whatever else. Your brain wanders into corn dog topics like: %26quot;Gee, I

wonder if I took a bite of your finger, if you would taste just like

a corn dog?%26quot;; or %26quot;Is this a real person or is it a giant corn dog trying

to make me think it is a real person?%26quot; or %26quot;What did that giant corn dog

just say?%26quot; or %26quot;Excuse me, Mister, why is it that you smell just exactly

like corn dogs smell?%26quot; or, of course, after a silencer:

    %26quot;Madam, did you just let the corn dogs out?%26quot;

Heck, after what I%26#039;ve heard about LSU fans, I think it may be better

not to smell them at all. Okay, not all of them. Some of them are

nice. Sure. Smell the nice ones. That%26#039;s okay.

You know what else is a bad thing to do? Holding your nose around them.

They are real sensitive to that, too. Try holding your breath. But

don%26#039;t be obvious about it. Somehow they know you%26#039;re trying not to

breathe in the corn dog smell. And that offends them. They%26#039;ll likely

punch you for that if they catch on to what you%26#039;re doing.

If you do breathe it in long enough, though, it%26#039;ll permeate your whole

body, and then you%26#039;ll smell like a corn dog just like they do. But

don%26#039;t say, %26quot;Dang, now I smell like a corn dog.%26quot; They take offense to

that. And they will throw things. But not corn dogs. Hard stuff.

Stuff that leaves bruises and makes you bleed. Then you may have to get

stitches or something. Just don%26#039;t say it. If you do start smelling like

a corn dog, just shut up about it. Okay?

I think kids are acutely aware of corn dog smells too. Counsel your

kids on how to behave around LSU fans. If LSU fans are driving around

town, do not let your kids stick their heads out of your car window and

sniff the air. No. Keep your windows rolled up. An odd change in

their expression - indicating they smell corn dogs - might get a wrench

or pipe or some other object tossed at your windshield. So, that%26#039;s

dangerous. Let your kids stick their heads out of the car windows as

you drive - on some other weekend

I know you are just as puzzled as I am about some of this corn dog

stuff. What puzzles me most is that I%26#039;ve never actually seen any of

these LSU fans with a corn dog in their hand. Okay, maybe there%26#039;s no

mystery there - maybe they already ate the corn dogs. Who knows?

Maybe there%26#039;s a corn dog factory in Baton Rouge and they all work there.

Maybe, there%26#039;s a corn dog lotion that they wear, or a French perfume.

Maybe their city council puts corn dog juice in the water supply -

kind of like fluoride. The politics there are probably weird.

The big political issue during the city election is whether they should

add more ketchup or more mustard to the water. Don%26#039;t comment on it

though. It%26#039;s not politically correct over there. It%26#039;s like a

malnutrition issue or something. It%26#039;s like the corn dogs are probably

added to the water to prevent starvation or something.

I know when you go to Baton Rouge, you%26#039;re thinking: %26quot;Ahhhh. Here I am

in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I%26#039;ll bet the people here smell just like

boiled crawfish or shrimp etoufe%26#039; or some fancy Cajun food.%26quot; But just

stop thinking that. That%26#039;s just a myth. They smell just like corn dogs.

In fact, please listen to my advice. Leave them alone about the corn

dog odor. And don%26#039;t try masking the odor with something stronger.

They%26#039;ll curse at you. They%26#039;ll say something like: %26quot;WTF, how dare you

smoke a cigar in my home,%26quot; or %26quot;WTF!! Are you too good for the smell of

corn dogs?%26quot; and they%26#039;ll cuss out your kids too: %26quot;WTF!!! Little Mister

    fancy pants over here acts like he doesn%26#039;t want to smell like corn dogs.%26quot;

Cajuns are not like us. Don%26#039;t you see that, yet? They are really

sensitive about being sniffed and about their corn dog aroma. They know

they smell like corn dogs and it is no laughing matter to them at all.

I know, I know. We sniff the bammers and the UGA dawgs and the Ole

messes, and we keep a straight face with each of them, but don%26#039;t press

your luck with the Cajun tiger fans. Don%26#039;t refer to Death Valley as corn

dog valley either. I mean that%26#039;s just wrong. Even if you%26#039;ve been

drinking, they%26#039;ll beat you up and curse out your kids.

Along these lines, be extra careful when you laugh in their direction -

even if you%26#039;re laughing about something else. Like baseball or football,

or sex or whatever. If you can%26#039;t control yourself and you must laugh

though, do not snort. The snorting makes them think that you smell their

corn dog body odor from a distance or that you%26#039;re choking on it or

something. They%26#039;ll likely burn your van for that. We lost a campus

    building over just one snort.

So, just remember. You can love one another without sniffing each

other. You can enjoy the clash of a couple of good football teams.

You can enjoy the thrill of the rivalry. But after the game, please heed

my words. Please just move along. No sniffing the opposing fans this

Saturday. Okay? Get your corn dog jollies at home.

Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?

when i was in stationed in germany in 1984,they had the toughest driving test in the world.it should be that way here in the u.s..first of all,at that time you had to be smart enough to know how to drive a manual transmission car.this alone would cut alot of dummies out of the picture.second, you had to be able to change a flat tire by yourself.i love this law,you cant change a flat, you dont drive, period.third, back then a liscence cost 2,000marks,this cuts even more boogers out of the equation.fourth, the polizei will flat beat your a-s if you get out of line,no whining about your rights.i always felt safe on german roads.eating, talking on your cell phone, even drinking a beverage would get you a stiff fine.fifth, all german children have to go to driving classes which last 18months usually.the reason they have fewer accidents on the autobahn and little or no speed limit is because there drivers are better.lastly, this is the best part.when you turn 80 years old youre done driving, period.Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?Yes.

    1. Learn to drive manual is a huge one. This should be mandatory for WOMEN and men.

    2. If you can't change your own tire, LADIES, you're a sad case. No wonder you're late for your manicure, as I laugh driving by you in the rain calling AAA.

    3. Well, I wouldn't want my license too expensive, but expensive enough that not every 16 year old putz can get one.

    4. We need police to enforce more than the speed limit. Tailgaters, cell-phone Nazis and the like need to pull over or get on a bus.

    5. I agree on classes. AND a re-test EVERY year. I bet a 32 year old adult can't remember most answers on a driver's test now.

    6. Under 18, older than 75, take the bus or call a friend (or a cab!). That will help with gas prices.

Great question/comment!Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?YESShould we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?I dont knowShould we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?fun fun fun on the AutobahnShould we make it harder to get a drivers liscence? No.

Having people give you a ride home gets REALLY annoying.

European driving laws are insane.Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?I believe the age should be older and it should be harder. I also believe that you should be in the country legally to have a license.Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence? And in Germany, SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEPS RIGHT. I miss being over there.Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?absolutly!!!!!!!!!!!!! germans dont have handicapped drivers either.plus they have rigid inspection laws too,if your car leaks or drips anything it fails.i have seen the polizei fail cars for badly scratched paint.you will never see the polizei on %26quot;cops%26quot;,the reason is they wont put up with your dumba-s,they will just kill you first.imagine how many liberal freaks in this country would go nuts if the cops here had the right to shoot you if you run from them?most europeans think americans are fat, lazy and stupid.i hate to say it but i have to agree.look how many taterheads in the u.s. cant drive a stickshift? gawd, how hard is that? thats like saying i cant go to the bathroom because i dont know how.sorry to rant dude.but youre absolulty right.the changing your own flat tire law would cut out all the little old people getting a liscence, not to mention driving 25 in the left lane with the blinker on.if they did that in germany they would be arressted.i saw the polizei in frankfurt once pull over a drunk driver.they yanked him out of his car and proceeded to beat the crap outta him, than they arrested him.we laughed for about 30 minutes after that.Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?i would go much further than that, first, they have to be bright enough to figure out a manual trans car, second pick out about 6 or 7 regular maintenence items they would have to be smart enough to perform,i.e.:change wiper blades, change flat tire, change headlights/stoplights,change air filter, etc.

third make them take the test EVERY YEAR!!Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?I agree across the board on your comments. In the northern states they should also include a winter driving road test, during a snow storm. I lived and drove in Germany for 4 years in the 80's too.

Should I follow Toyota's service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?

    2005 Toyota Highlander

I really don't feel like paying alot for the dealer to %26quot;inspect%26quot; things on my car although Toyota's service schedule recommends it.

Someone on a Toyota forum told me this, what do you think?

If you intend on just draining and filling your fluids you should do your transmission fluid and engine coolant at 30k. If you intend on flushing those systems you can wait until you reach 45k, at that point I would do trans fluid, engine coolant, power steering fluid and brake fluid. How I recommend to my customers to maintain their vehicle is 5k oil changes and tire rotations, 15k along with the aforementioned do a wheel balance and alignment, between 15k-20k change your cabin filter and engine air filter (depending on where you live, i.e. dust, a lot of pollen, etc. 30k-45k recommend engine coolant and trans fluid, as well as brake fluid and power steering fluid closer at 45k. Between 45k-60k I would do your front and rear differential fluid if you have 4wd/awd and maybe a fuel injection cleaning. At 60k-90k I recommend plugs, plug wires, PCV valve (at least check it). At 90k I recommend (depending on the car, year) timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seals, accessory drive belts (serpentine drive belts) if they haven't been changed recently since you have to remove them to do timing belt, etc. That's maintenance.

Repairs such as brake pads, new tires, drive belts, etc are as needed.Should I follow Toyota's service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?Nice vehicle, if you do the maintenance suggested, it will last and last.

The vehicle is getting older.... if it doesnt have any warranty, follow the schedule but dont get dealers to do it because yes, they are way more money, especially toyota... find a good independent mechanic.. small guy.. who knows toyotas.... it will cost you half...

I always maintain my vehicles according to maintenance schedules and they last.. my honda is ten years old, going on 11.. its like new..d drives like new... looks amazing... no worries and I follow hondas recommended plan.. but I have taken it to an independent guy for the last six years.... and it costs little compared to the dealer....

Oil... always change at 5000k..... its the blood of the vehicleShould I follow Toyota's service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?sounds good i don't think you missed alot of stuff if any. usually as long as you keep up with the oil changes and regular stuff that pops up your toyota is going over 200,000 thousand miles with no strain and a good chance into the 300's. do you have a warranty left? that is gonna void the warranty if you awol the service on it.Should I follow Toyota's service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?Follow the schedule %26amp; rule of thumb. You don't have to go to the dealer. Do it yourself or go independent.

    How true is this?????????????

yeah, it's alot , but just read it:)!!

  • Value of my car at trade in, any car sales men in the house?

I own a 99 mazda protoge. The car is fully paid off. I am the original owner it only has 66,000 miles on it and I take it for regular oil changes and inspections, it also has a brand new set of tires.

I know I can find a value on kelly Blue Book, but in reality how much do you think I will get for it as a trade in at a dealership, will i be completely ripped off?

I want to get somthing like an Acura MDXor a Nissan Murano, Any sugestions and any serious opinions on these vehicles from owners... Thanks for your help....Value of my car at trade in, any car sales men in the house?According to Manheim Auto Auctions wholesale dealers only site, with the mileage you have, assuming the car has NO body damage or mechanical problems, the average selling price at auction is around $3200. The thing to keep in mind is that this is what the car should actually be worth to the dealer at wholesale. The big mistake most people make is they expect to get %26quot;the best deal%26quot; on the car they're buying and to get much more than wholesale on their trade number. This is where most negotiations break down because the dealer can't take a loss on both sides and still stay in business. You can have one or the other. What it really comes down to is the bottom line, which is where the real deal numbers are.

Bottom line is, if you're happy with the car you choose and the bottom line is comfortable for you, you've made a good deal.Value of my car at trade in, any car sales men in the house? It should be about $2000 but to make sure of your true value (mine was an estimate) go to kbb.com i cannot get an accurate trade in value because you didn't tell us your car features, what type of model it is (4x4 stuff like that) and if it is in excellent, good, fair, poor condition.Value of my car at trade in, any car sales men in the house?kelly blue book will give you a idea of you cars value. but n.a.d.a. and edmunds.com are a little more realistic of what you can get. and when they make you an offer know that it is also negotiable. and both the mdx and murano are great vehicles.Value of my car at trade in, any car sales men in the house?Hello, I am a car sales woman. I sell the Infiniti's. If your interested in the SUV, I can help you with the FX. As for a trade in on your car, I would have to guess the value would be about $2,400.

Are there any military spouses on here who's loved one has gone overseas?.......LRMM?

My husband and I have three children and everytime he leaves it seems to get that much harder on the kids and me. My husband has been in the service for 18 years,we have two teenagers and a 5 year old. The two older kids know the drill when Dad goes overseas but, it's a little hard for the 5 year old. He knows that Dad is gonna be gone for a long time so,I keep him busy alot to keep his mind off it. The Military Base here is great.

The base has a program where they watch the kids one saturday a month for how ever many months your spouse is overseas.(GIVE PARENTS A BREAK) It is wonderful. They also change the oil in your car, check the fluids, and the tires. There are a lot of guys and gals overseas at this moment and I wanted to let there spouses know, they are not the only ones out there. Acura scheduled maintenance reminders

I'm curious, how many of you Acura owners actually take your cars to the dealerships to get the scheduled maintenance done? I own a TSX and my B1 light is on. For my A1 service I took it to the dealership but only got the oil change for $32, they were going to charge me over $90 to have the actual A1 service done. I know B1 is for oil change, tire rotation and maybe some other checkups and it will cost me $160. Should I just get the tire rotation and oil change done separate or just fork over the $160 to have them do everything?Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI own a 06 tsx, bought new 11/17/06. It has 57,000+miles on it. I take it to the dealer for service since I trust them and they do an excellent job. They have done some warranty work which they noticed had to be done when they were checking the car. I just had the A12 service done- oil and filter change, tires rotated and balanced, both filters changed and the car was handwashed. Since I have been a loyal customer they did not charge me this time. Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI would trust the system and just fork over the $160 for everything. Usually, since Acura should know their cars, they would know what usually will go wrong with the car, and are able to fix it. You could try to have a mechanic look over the car and do the appropriate fixings, but that is a hassle if you don't have a normal mechanic you go to.

We own a 2008 TL, and our A1 light just came on. It has been 5-6 thousand miles, so I would assume that the A1 service is better for the car instead of just replacing the oil.

The A1 service includes an oil change and tire rotations, and the owner's manual describes exactly what they will do. A big part of the cost of the service will be the man-hours put into working on the car and frivolous things like resetting the instrument panel that reads the oil life (the Multi-function display).

Take it into service and save yourself the hassle of finding what they really need to do. It isn't worth your time.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI take my car to my mechanic and have him do the scheduled maintenance. It's about 1/2 of what the Acura dealer wants. I keep the receipts for proof that the work was done.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersAt mechanic shops, it costs around $55 for oil change with the Synthetic oil and $20-25 for the tire rotation.

The dealer is much cleaner, but the mechanic is faster and cheaper.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersJust fork over the $160 In my opinion. Hypothetically, if something goes wrong, you can run to the dealer and they will gladly help you and give you a courtesy car! If something goes wrong at the mechanics, they aren't going to care, just charge you more. If you have a tire pressure monitoring system on your TSX i suggest you get your tires rotated at the dealer. This is because smaller shops and privately owned shops tend to mess it up! Good luck. Also if you do hot have enough to fork over the 160 wait a couple of miles and save up. Its well worth it.

How do you feel about this? Are you a tired as I am? And what is your opinion?

Profiling? So What? From a pilot's point of view...

This is the most profound, most insightful message to Muslims I've seen. I think it should be read on Fox, sent to the President, and forwarded to any other form of media to express what so many of us feel toward the Muslims!

The paper stated today that some Muslim doctor is saying we are profiling him because he has been checked three times while getting on an airplane.

(A Letter From An American Airlines Pilot)

This well spoken man, who is a pilot with American Airlines, says what is in his heart beautifully....read, absorb and pass on....it's time to get answers from those who claim their terrorist members do not represent them..why are their leaders not LOUDLY AND FIERCELY AND CONTINUOUSLY condemning their visible murderous brethren.

    YOU WORRY ME!

By American Airlines Pilot - Captain John Maniscalc

%26quot;I've been trying to say this since 9-11 but you worry me. I wish you didn't. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don't blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, nineteen ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.

The Palestinians Celebrated, The Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So I notice you now. I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim-Americans and the Arab/Muslims in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter these same good neighbors and children? The events of September 11th changed the answer. It is not my responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I demand to know, and I have a right to know whether or not you love America . Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car?

Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Or do you pray that Allah with destroy it in one of your %26quot;Jihads%26quot;? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America ? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America . Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent because I worry about who you regard as innocent. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy...I am only interested in action.

What will you do for America - our great countr y -- at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets.

I want to hear you chanting %26quot;Allah Bless America %26quot; I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time, and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole. The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Hand them over to us, now! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action.

Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing %26quot;leaders%26quot; like Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good and pure and true when your %26quot;leaders%26quot; are teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance?

It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if large numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great Unit ed States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

Do you and your fellow Muslims hate us because our women proudly show their faces in public rather than cover up like a shameful whore? Do you and your fellow Muslims hate us because we drink wine with dinner, or celebrate Christmas? Do you and you fellow Muslims hate us because we have befriended Israel , the ONLY FRIENDLY CIVILIZED SOCIETY in the Muslim/Arab area, that thinks and acts like most Americans.

And if you and your fellow Muslims hate us, then why in the world are you even here? Are you here to take our money? Are you here to undermine our peace and stability? Are you here to destroy us? If so, I want you to leave. I want you to go back to your desert sandpit where women are treated like rats and dogs. I want you to take your religion, your friends, and your family back to your Islamic extremists, and STAY THERE! We will NEVER give in to your influence, your retarded mentality, your twisted, violent, intolerant religion.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us: Our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab/ Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very institution that is protecting you and your family. I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American. But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand.%26quot; %26quot;Until then .. you worry me.%26quot; ******************************** ****************************************

And what is your opinion?Three cheers to American Airlines Pilot John Maniscalc!!! I sent that to everyone on my email list!!! Too bad for that Muslim doctor.....it's because of the terrorists attack, we have all this security. We have to get to the airport an hour ahead of time, wait on long lines through security check points, take our shoes off when going through baggage check. We can no longe take shampoo, hair spray, liquids of any kind in our carry on baggage. Unfortunately, I also look at them differently now when I see them someplace, and I hate myself for feeling like that. Compared to what they would do to us if we were in their country....he has no reason to complain. if he doesn't like it...that's just too damn bad.How do you feel about this? Are you a tired as I am? He needs to prove to me that he isn't Tim McVeigh. He needs to spend every moment of his life proving to me that he won't bomb a government building.

Of the over one billion Muslims in the world, or the 15 million in this country, a couple of dozen were involved in 9/11.

Bin Laden's people murdered 3,000 people, but he hasn't the power to destroy this country.

This moron and those who think like he does, do.How do you feel about this? Are you a tired as I am? And what is your opinion? This is so silly. You're talking about the extremely low percent of the millions of %26quot;muslims%26quot; in the world. Everyone knows that Islam doesn't condone terrorism of any form. I know a lot of muslims that are real cool and love this country. You watch way too much Fox News. I can't believe there's people like you that call yourself American.
