Acura scheduled maintenance reminders

I'm curious, how many of you Acura owners actually take your cars to the dealerships to get the scheduled maintenance done? I own a TSX and my B1 light is on. For my A1 service I took it to the dealership but only got the oil change for $32, they were going to charge me over $90 to have the actual A1 service done. I know B1 is for oil change, tire rotation and maybe some other checkups and it will cost me $160. Should I just get the tire rotation and oil change done separate or just fork over the $160 to have them do everything?Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI own a 06 tsx, bought new 11/17/06. It has 57,000+miles on it. I take it to the dealer for service since I trust them and they do an excellent job. They have done some warranty work which they noticed had to be done when they were checking the car. I just had the A12 service done- oil and filter change, tires rotated and balanced, both filters changed and the car was handwashed. Since I have been a loyal customer they did not charge me this time. Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI would trust the system and just fork over the $160 for everything. Usually, since Acura should know their cars, they would know what usually will go wrong with the car, and are able to fix it. You could try to have a mechanic look over the car and do the appropriate fixings, but that is a hassle if you don't have a normal mechanic you go to.

We own a 2008 TL, and our A1 light just came on. It has been 5-6 thousand miles, so I would assume that the A1 service is better for the car instead of just replacing the oil.

The A1 service includes an oil change and tire rotations, and the owner's manual describes exactly what they will do. A big part of the cost of the service will be the man-hours put into working on the car and frivolous things like resetting the instrument panel that reads the oil life (the Multi-function display).

Take it into service and save yourself the hassle of finding what they really need to do. It isn't worth your time.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersI take my car to my mechanic and have him do the scheduled maintenance. It's about 1/2 of what the Acura dealer wants. I keep the receipts for proof that the work was done.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersAt mechanic shops, it costs around $55 for oil change with the Synthetic oil and $20-25 for the tire rotation.

The dealer is much cleaner, but the mechanic is faster and cheaper.Acura scheduled maintenance remindersJust fork over the $160 In my opinion. Hypothetically, if something goes wrong, you can run to the dealer and they will gladly help you and give you a courtesy car! If something goes wrong at the mechanics, they aren't going to care, just charge you more. If you have a tire pressure monitoring system on your TSX i suggest you get your tires rotated at the dealer. This is because smaller shops and privately owned shops tend to mess it up! Good luck. Also if you do hot have enough to fork over the 160 wait a couple of miles and save up. Its well worth it.
