Carl Edwards said on Victory Lane (SPEEDTV show) that Jack is going to get a 7 post shaker (a machine that simulates race conditions and monitors the cars response to different setups). Why didn't they already have one? Carl also said something about hopefulyy they can leave the teams alone for awhile (not change crews and what not). Later on Jack himself said that they didn't totally understand the proper testing procedures, with the different tracks and tires,at the beginning of the season. No wonder they are so far behind the Gibbs, RCR and Hendrick teams! How did Mr Roush lose the handle on his teams in such a short time? Just 2 years ago they looked like they were poised to be THE team for the next few years. I know they just won, but it was expected of them at Michigan. I have been saying it since last season that Ford and Dodge are not throwing full support behind their Teams and that their Teams are not getting the equipment that the Chevy Teams are getting. Chevy and it's Teams are using everything that NASCAR is allowing them to use and using it in Spads.
It's not cheating, it is using everything at your disposal to get to victory lane. I am shocked that of all Teams though Jack Roush would fall behind the power curve as hard as he has. I don't like Jack, but he has always struck me as someone who wants to dominate NASCAR; win the Cup every single year. Looking back a couple of years ago Roush had all 4 of his drivers in the chase. DEI did not have the 7 post shaker, but Jr motor sports did, so often times DEI guys would go to Jrs shop and use his 7 post shaker. This was a reasons that Jr wanted 51% ownership so he could get stuff like that going at DEI.

This is the reason you don't hear him complaining much about the Hendrick/Chevy performance of late, he knows he missed the boat on testing and some of the latest equipment. Racing is competitive and being on top does not give you a chance to rest on your laurels, try it and you will be on the outside looking in.
