Please answer this question!?

In school , its no surprise that we have a lot of people who aren't street smart and some don't know how to balance out their check book. My idea would be to give every student mandatory eithier early or late bird class in addition to thier reg. classes and %26quot;real life%26quot; class where they combine everything fom how to change a tire, to checking on a leaking toilet, how to go and buy a new car, new house, start 401 K, doing your own taxes etc.... Aren't these the topics of real life anyways? so why not add it to the school list of classes ( they have 4 yrs to learn ). I think a lot of people would benefit from learning the basics so they aren't left behind in the real world. I know I've had many elective classes that were usless and I would have appreciated knowing this stuff even back then in high school! If students know in the beginning that this will be something in real life , gove it a shot and hopefully they'll take it more seriously.....feedback??Please answer this question!?i agree with you.....i am a retired school teacher and also a dean of students. alot of students did not have the grades or means to enter college, so i taught juniors and seniors a %26quot;life reality check%26quot; course i taught both girls and boys basic sewing emergency skills, laundry and ironing skills, created a mock household, and mock working skills, manners, job skills including working as a team member, etc. how to open a checking and savings account, budgets and other needed skills to live in the world as a responsible young adult. i also encouraged many students to go to vocational schools, and showed them how to do many other things they needed to do. i wish that the school systems would offer this, as well as prepared some students to go forward with college. Please answer this question!?Your ideas are excellent ad overdue. Why though put them on the back burner by not having them as part of the school day? If extra time is needed then any subject could be given early or late. Please answer this question!?Such a good idea! Does your school have 'advisory'? or any class where this curriculum could be integrated into the regular day without adding another class? that would be my suggestion. I had an advisory that met 3x/week and we did things like go out to eat lunch and everyone would figure out their tax and tip, go shopping and figure out the tax and sale prices to stay within budget, mock apartment hunting...all the kinds of things that are important to know when going out into the world that many teens just don't know. So, my feedback is GREAT IDEA! I think all learning is best when it has some context in real life, kudos to you for trying to get this going at your school.
